An online friend (I’ve spoken of him before on this site and others) passed over an informative pdf to me this week, to in turn, pass onto you.

You can download the pdf at the end of this post, but allow me to save you some reading time and give you the highlights. (Training and techniques that I agree and am alignment with).

Part 2: Web 2.0 Arrives, the Market Changes

(highlights of page 5)

Then one day a few years ago, some really smart people figured out how to make the web more interactive. Users could go to a web page and talk to other users, but more importantly, CREATE CONTENT for the owner of the website.

This is called Web 2.0.

MySpace, Facebook, YouTube, all those sites that let visitors write, upload, create, or otherwise share their own ‘stuff’ online started producing copious amounts of new content that the search engines could easily index…

This was especially great for the owners of these web 2.0 sites, because the cost of acquiring content is otherwise the most expensive part of owning any website…

…more importantly all this new content…disturbed the old business model (article marketing, seo, etc.).

…basically, everything that the SEO firms used to tell you was necessary has changed. All except one: It’s more important than ever to get incoming links to your website.

The question arises: If Article Marketing has lost so much of its importance with the search engines, how do we create these incoming links?

Part 3: Ride that Web 2.0 Wave!

(highlights of page 6)

…thinking that Web 2.0 is just a bunch of MySpaces, YouTubes, and Facebooks – where the main purpose is to talk and share with online buddies?

…you have been wasting your own time making content for the owners of those websites.

…since content is the basic currency of the information age, you have just made them rich at your own expense.

…all you have to do to turn the tables and make them YOUR slave is to place your articles, tips, recipes, jokes, home movies, podcasts, whatever content you can create out there on Web 2.0…with links back to your own website.

Example: If you write something about dog training on MySpace, and it doesn’t link to your main website, then you gain nothing. You have just wasted all that time for no good reason, other than to make the owners of MySpace even richer. However, add a link to the bottom of that same bit of writing that takes the user back to your Dog Training website, and you have just marketed your own website…

The best part is that web 2.0 writing is fast and choppy…no 350-1500 word articles….

According to recent research, over 2,000 Web 2.0 sites exist.

…Google and Yahoo love them and index them quickly

The only question left is: Which ones will allow you to link back to your own website?

Part 5: The Gold Rush is On!

(pages 8-9, discusses Revenue Share which I think everyone has heard of so I snipped it out of these notes)

Make money while building your business, (to make even more money.)

Part 6: Where to find them

…you’re probably already asking how many of the 2,000 plus sites allow backlinks.

Inside the member’s forum I’ve got a library stocked full of them…and members are always adding new ones as discovered.

…here are a few you already know about…

www.Cagora.com, www.Helium.com, www.Hubpages.com, www.Revver.com, www.Squidoo.com, www.ThisIsBy.Us, www.Vume.com, www.Weebly.com, www.Wikidot.com, www.Yuwie.com

…some take video, some text, some articles, some audio, and most will take a mixture.

However, these all pay you money for your time, and meanwhile you’ll really be spending that time building your own website up in the search engines.

Part 7: “More powerful than you can possibly imagine…”
(re: keyword research and search engine positioning and traffic from Web 2.0 sites)

Being #1 on google does NOT mean you get all the traffic. At best, it just means getting the MOST traffic.

#1 only equates to about 40% of all traffic for a keyword…

HOWEVER – you could own ALL of the links listed on the results page…

CONSIDER – Make easy pages on Web 2.0 sites, get those pages ranking highly in the search engine results pages, (much faster than ever before) and control the traffic flow for your keywords.

REMEMBER – Search engines love Web 2.0 sites, so ranking is easy.

You’ll be in full control, get 100% of the traffic for your keyword, all linking back to your site, and even be paid to create it all.

Laura, wrapping up…

I’ve been a member of this forum for almost a year now. Inside you’ll find keyword research tools, members helping members, experts helping newbies, a backlink script (to discover how many backlinks are required to beat out your top 5 competitors), 30+ training films, dozens of software downloads, and more.

While you’re there, learn about the opportunities that exist to supply content to Web 2.0 sites and be paid directly to your Paypal or bank account within days – just like a freelancing assignment.

Money up front plus money in residuals, all while you’re dominating the search engines for the benefit of your own business…

Honestly I couldn’t believe the number of people who flocked to MySpace with their online business promotion ideals – making ugly web spaces and creating lists of ‘friends’ that they hoped would somehow amount to ‘worth it‘ in traffic and sales.

I ranted long and furiously about this in another post so I’m not about to get tangled up that negativity again, but you must know this:

“As a writer and tester for the best types of free traffic generation and gaining top search engine ranks, and with a MySpace marketing ebook to sell, I never told you about it. Nor promoted the material. Didn’t even offer it up on one of my top ranking resale rights pages. And I did not share the techniques.”

Why, when I could have raked in a few thousand selling that material?

Because the techniques my peers were sharing were completely against MySpace’s terms of service and the traffic it served was neither predisposed to buy nor focused…didn’t fit in the ‘worth it’ category.

I guess what really irked me was that this product was being peddled all over the ‘net, from website promotion experts that I once held in high regard. Confronting one of them the answer I got was: “It sells” and “everyone else is doing it.”

There’s more, but I’ll spare you the rant.

Then along came SQUIDOO.com to save the day!

Squidoo is the brain child of Seth Godin.

It’s been touted as “MySpace for Grownups”

I want to tell you about it because it is ‘worth it’. Not to mention it’s fast, easy, and free. (Do I sound like “Free Prize Inside” or what?)

The Squidoo technique I’m about to walk you through falls right in line with the method I outlined for you in December (43things…)

First of all, here’s what makes this worth it:

Squidoo is ranked by Alexa as being in the top 850 websites online today for traffic. (03/08/07)

If you’ve been doing any type of keyword searches in the last few months you’ve probably run across one or more Squidoo pages sitting in the top 20 google results…

Pages, that were created for free, by savvy website owners just like you and I.

Many of those pages weren’t even around for the last google update in January!

Here’s What You Do to Get 2.0 Traffic and Rank from Squidoo

I really want you to take 20 minutes today to poke around Squidoo. Get an account there and create a page that will interest your target market. And, of course, on that page link to your website using one of your top key word phrases.

In the first week you may wonder if you wasted that twenty minutes, but trust me on this, you haven’t!

As Squidoo grows, your page will be well represented on one of the busiest Web 2.0 authority sites for a long time coming.

Let me give you a few more pointers on Squidoo here before you run off…

Pages on Squidoo are called Lenses

Lenses can consist of many modules

Modules can be text, images from your hard drive, videos from YouTube, rss feed content from your blog (auto updating I might add), plus…

Modules can also consist of income producing units that you can keep all or a portion of, for yourself (stuff from amazon, eBay, iTunes, and more).

Creating a lens is really easy. Adding modules is a breeze. Point, click and type.

The next two tips are optional, but worthy…

Every time you have 20 minutes to spare, update your lens (page) with some new text or add a new lens to your profile. This is encouraged on Squidoo and NOT against the terms of service.

Learn to high power market on Squidoo with Tiffany’s 47 page ebook on the subject.

Now to be clear here, you DO NOT need Tiffany’s ebook to figure out how to get some qualified traffic and search engine positioning with Squidoo, but if time is short and you recognize the value of what Squidoo can do for you in the long term, her walk-through, marketing tips, and follow up emails to her customers are well worth the investment.

I’ve been stumbling around Squidoo for some time myself and had never thought of the ideas that get results which Tiffany shares! Not to mention the fact that she writes like a dream and explains the processes so well you hardly feel like you’re learning anything new at all.

Tiffany spent years as the ghostwriter of many internet marketing guru products – this explains how she knows her stuff as well as she does.

You’ll be shocked to see the names on her client list!

Web 2.0 Marketing with Tiffany

Wrapping Up 2.0 Marketing with Squidoo

Get some space on Squidoo, leave some valuable content that makes a visitor (or a search engine spider) want to click thorugh to your site(s), and enjoy the traffic increase.

I’ll be back with more of the best targeted traffic tips shortly,

www.stampedesecret.com

p.s. If you come into Squidoo on my recommendation I’ll know you’re there and will help you with comments, suggestions and/or promotion (as always), but you don’t need me to get your free account.

p.s.s. If you want the best help, get Tiffany’s ebook and stay up to date on Squidoo with her follow up emails.

Ever heard of Wikio?

Google certainly has!

Google has indexed 364,000 references on wikio, whose home page only employs a measly PR6. Now I never was one to get all worked up about Google’s PR system, but I do often use it in my assessment of websites. Another assessment tool, the Alexa ranking, has this site positioned in the top 30,000 most visited sites online today (at the time of writing).

Newly Built Web 2.0 Websites Sell

The reason I’m asking if you’ve heard of Wikio is because most of my friends – even my online geeky friends – have never heard of it. Yet it was important enough to sell for nearly $5.5 million USDs (United States dollars). It actually sold in the UK, for €4 million if you want to get technical about the price.

Wikio is much like Digg.com (a brilliant Web 2.0 site) with a little Technorati and Google News thrown into the pot. The interesting thing to note is that the site in itself is still very young. Actually it was only registered right around the time I put the Stampede Secret up for sale from this (once) one-page website.

Inception: September, 2004.
Birthdate: June, 2005.
Current Worth at less than two years of age: $5.5 million USD (approximately).

While doing research I read that Wikio’s audience reached nearly one million monthly unique visitors.

Ready to Build Your Own Web 2.0 Site?

If you’re thinking of building a Web 2.0 site like this of your own, Wikio’s backend looks alot like a Pligg-generated website with staff writers (but note that pligg.com sites can certainly run on their own with some good marketing in place) for the social networking and voting aspect. You might also have a look at www.elgg.com, if your ‘bent’ is more towards social blogging.

Until next time!

The world wide web is changing at an alarming rate. Have you noticed or read the current surfer stats?

If you have you know that your business should be booming with all the extra people who have found their way online in the last year. Especially if you’re actively marketing with blogs and rss feeds?

Focus. Attitude. Knowledge. Personality.

The major shift is already upon us and our old marketing techniques are getting tired. Video has arrived, google has made serious changes to their search engine algorithms, and your website visitors are savvier than ever…

You’ve got to stay on top of all this if you’re building or maintaining a business online.

Whether we want to be in this state of change or not, doesn’t matter. We’re stuck with the change because the www is changing. And the tool that’s going to keep us afloat and prosperous is knowledge.

It’s time to get lean and mean with both your marketing and your time.

I’ll be gone for the next 10-12 days, and we’ll carry on from there. In the meantime, if you need any help with blogs, making money, wordpress, or niche marketing I’ve listed my personal go-to info sources over at http://www.smartzville.com/marketing-help

If you want to wait for my return, leave a note on the site, or email me directly. I will reply when I get back.

To your marketing success!
