Hi June, thanks for your 'seal of approval' on the Authority Black Book. I know Jack will be very proud if he ever stops in again.

I too enjoyed the Authority Black Book, but found it too vague for niche focus sites. One must always be careful when following a guru that they're learning skills and techniques that fit their business model (which isn't always the same as the guru's business model). Marlon Sanders wrote a huge article on this last month - it was very good as it taught people to think for themselves.

As for your teaching - wow! that's a tall order. No product, no investment, no technical skills - usually works out to no profit. The internet is rife with 'online business' sites that don't make any money. Have your students had much success? I'm sure everyone here is wondering...

Have a great weekend June. It's Canadian Thanksgiving as I write this, so I know I will!

I teach a class at my computer club on how to start and maintain an online business on any imaginable topic with no product with no financial investment, with no technical skills. The Authority Black Book is almost manditory in my class. I have taught from this book and have quoted it many times. The benefits my students receive from The Authority Black Book is a great bonus. The info is great.

Jack, I had no problem passing this along as I do certainly believe the Authority Black Book is a great report for people who need to catch up quickly to the trends and the starting point of learning how to meet their markets on common ground in 2007.

Keep up the great work, I'm happy to be one of your channels for alerting people to updates and new opportunities through your network.

Cheers, Laura

Laura,

Thanks for the mention!

To address the "years to come" language, that was a mistake on our part in putting that copy together.

What it should have said in addition is that we plan on releasing updates as things change, sites come and go, and web 2.0 evolves.

Otherwise we'd need a disclaimer like "use before next month for best results!"

Totally agree with you - none of us has any idea where this is going exactly (even the owners of Web 2.0 sites have no clue what's going to happen next). Just that user driven sites are not going away anytime soon.

Hi Laura, it's funny, but I came to your blog through Jack Humprey's blog.

I'll try to get this free report.

Hi Wayne, great to see you stopping by!

The bonus (which didn't do much for me and since I know you are an experienced marketer probably won't do much for you) is about social networking at large - not just MySpace.

Social Networking doesn't end (in fact it doesn't even begin!) at MySpace. There is so much more available to the internet marketer in a much more targeted and lucrative way.

Hi Laura,

This is Wayne. Do you remember me?

I downloaded the ebook, Website Traffic Black Book. I don't understand how the bonus to Website Traffic Black Book is still relevant since MySpace went after these sites.

Thanks for the info.

Dang Peter you just knocked me off my horse!

I'm joking...you're right of course. The video is so small that I don't think they considered it to be a problem...heck I didn't think it'd be a problem.

I'll email them and see if they can't put a 'skip the intro' link onto the page.

Laura

p.s. My apologies to all if you experienced the same trouble. It may also be that you hit at an incredibly busy time as well - and not your connection speed.

Hi Laura.

Just thought that I'd add my 2 cents worth to the above comments.

I am on dial-up and, unfortunately, could not even view the video, let alone download the report.

I feel that there may be many others in similar circumstances, so it would be a great option to be able to by-pass the video.

A:

Wow, that's too bad. The little video is unobtrusive and very short (35 seconds).

Even if the concept annoyed you, you shouldn't have let it stop you from getting the information and picking up a few valuable tips.

Not that everyone should be like me, but had the video bothered me (and it didn't), I would have just made a mental note as "I'll never do that to my website visitors," grabbed the free report, and moved on.

I do hope you didn't miss out.
